Fishing trips and exclusive events with fishing, boating, and other activities in the beautiful Finnish nature!

“Vapaaherranelämää” is a Finnish saying, and roughly translated, it means easy living. That is precisely what we have offered to our customers since 2004.

All-inclusive fishing trips to the Helsinki region are our main expertise, and the center of operations is at our lakeside restaurant & sauna, Artalli. Only a 35-minute drive west of Helsinki city center, this cozy retreat offers unique possibilities for fishermen. We can take you fishing and boating to a lake, river, and the Baltic Sea, all in one trip!

Food is a very important part of our services, and besides mouth-watering meals and snacks that we serve, your catch of the day can also be prepared into a delicious part of the fishing day’s lunch or dinner.

So don’t hesitate to contact us for more information on our fishing trips and other activities at Artalli!

Safety is our top priority, and we begin every trip with basic safety instructions. Our boats are inspected by sea safety officials, equipped with all required safety equipment and flotation devices, and we provide comfortable automatic life vests for every participant. Our guides are trained in first aid and make the final decisions on what to do in case of emergency.

Henrik Rehbinder is responsible for safety in general, and our guide/captain of the boat is responsible for the safety of our customers during each trip. All our guides have periodic education in first aid, and our boat guides have a degree in seafaring and many years of experience of boating in the tricky waters of the Finnish archipelago. Vapaaherranelämää has liability insurance for all trips.

Participants aged 18 to 64 taking part in any fishing (except fishing poles and ice fishing) need to have a fishing license, which costs €7/day in 2023. We can purchase fishing licenses on your behalf.

We provide all the necessary fishing gear, but you are welcome to bring your own. We don’t charge for missing lures or broken fishing gear as long as they are used as guided. If you like our fishing gear, you can also buy them and take them with you after the fishing trip.

We recommend dressing warmly and comfortably, suitable for the weather, but we also have warm outdoor/boating clothing for over 30 people for all types of weather, including boots, hats, gloves, and sunglasses. Please note that even if the weather is sunny and warm, it can still be colder on the sea. You can check the weather conditions before your trip on the website

We can accommodate participants with various illnesses and allergies, so please inform us ahead of time, and we will plan accordingly.

Alcohol is not recommended on the boats, but moderate consumption is allowed. We don’t serve any alcohol on our fishing trips, but you are welcome to bring your own, preferably in plastic or aluminum containers. The guide/captain of the boat is responsible for the well-being of our customers and will make the final decisions on alcohol consumption.

We look forward to taking you on an unforgettable fishing trip with Vapaaherranelämää. Please contact us if you have any further questions or to book your trip.

Ice Fishing

A true northern experience that doesn`t leave anyone cold!

Ice fishing is a great way to enjoy from beautiful Finnish winter scenery and catch some fish at the same time.

Ice fishing is very easy to learn, but it takes years of practise to know where the fish are and what kind of lures and bait to use. We have that experience and the best equipment for catching fish, even to groups of 50 people.

After taking you to the best places and drilling holes in to the ice, all you need to do is relax, jigg the bait and wait for fish to bite. The out door clothes and hot drinks that we provide will keep you warm so that you can fully enjoy the unforgettable experience of ice fishing.

The ice conditions vary from year to year, but usually ice fishing season starts in end of December and continues to the end of March.

During this time we do all-inclusive ice fishing trips to whole Helsinki region, but the best place to try this form of fishing is at our lakeside restaurant & sauna Artalli. There we have a snowmobile and an ATV with sledges + sonar equipment to make ice fishing experience all that more exiting.

Contact us if you are interested in this exotic form of fishing and we will tell you more on what we offer at Artalli and Helsinki region.
